This is a raw rip of the entire hour-long VHS cassette entitled “N’cha! Arale’s Punishment! Defeat the Idea Thief! Educational Video on IPR (Industrial Property Rights): Patent Edition” (んちゃ！アラレのおしおき！ アイデア泥棒をやっつけちゃえ！ 工業所有権教育用ビデオ：特許編). It contains three segments—the first two are animated by Toei Animation, and the last is live-action:



Part A: “んちゃ！アラレのおしおき！ アイデア泥棒をやっつけちゃえ！ 工業所有権教育用ビデオ：特許編” (N’cha! Arale’s Punishment! Defeat the Idea Thief! Educational Video on IPR (Industrial Property Rights), 22 minutes. Covers the basics of inventing and filing for a patent. (2000)



Part B: “がんばれ！コボちゃん牛乳 ー 工業所有権教育用ビデオ 商標編 ー” (Do Your Best! Kobo-chan Milk — Educational Video on Industrial Property Rights: Trademark Edition —), 21 minutes. Explains branding, logos, and protecting a company trademark. (2000)



Part C: “21世紀 知的創造時代 〜 特許庁の果たす役割 〜” (The 21st Century: An Era of Intellectual Creation The Role Played by the Japan Patent Office), 15 minutes. A general policy video detailing the administrative functions and modernization goals of the JPO going into the new millennium. (2000)

Ripped from a VHS cassette and shared by Walrsu. It was recorded with the mic on; there is some light mumbling at 00:00:03 and a computer ding audible at 00:31:50, but it is clear otherwise.


The Dr. Slump animated segment features a completely different plot from the Understanding Copyright Through Comics manga released in 1999.


Anyone who wants to fansub this is welcome to do so. We have no plans to sub it ourselves for multiple reasons, including a lack of time. Many thanks to Walrsu for ripping and sharing this with us. Much praise!
